SPEED

Ride Your Ride, Not a Number
FTP, averages, and single metrics don’t define you. Train to your rider type, focus on execution, and measure success by performance in real-world conditions, not in a test.

Train with Precision, Not Ego
Group rides are for skills and fun, not structured training. Focus on quality over quantity, and avoid chasing averages just to pad your stats. Every session should have a clear purpose.

Stay in the Fight
When it gets hard, that’s your breakthrough moment. Struggle builds capacity, comfort sharpens skills, and consistency wins in the long run.

We build physical durability, explosive power, and muscular balance through cycling-specific and off-bike strength training.

Build from the Ground Up
Strong top-end power starts with a deep aerobic base, efficient movement, and strength off the bike. Nail the fundamentals before chasing high-intensity efforts.

Fuel with Purpose
Nutrition is training. Prioritize at least 1g of protein per pound of body weight daily (minimum 40g per meal), fuel before you ride, and recover right after. Every bite should serve performance and health.

Plan. Execute. Adapt.
Schedule your sessions for the lowest-friction time in your day, prepare your gear and nutrition, and show up with intent. Adjust when needed, but never wing it.

Prioritize Recovery
Training is only half the equation; recovery makes the gains possible. Sleep is non-negotiable; aim for 7–9 hours per night. Incorporate active recovery, mobility work, and downtime to recharge both body and mind.

Train for the Long Game
Longevity comes from sustainable progress, not short-term heroics. Push when it matters, rest when it’s wise, and always keep your future self in mind.

Despite rewriting nearly my entire Power Catalogue, enjoying a level of professional service in which I receive a consistently and timely detailed workout schedule, have been the recipient of an incredibly helpful nutritionist, and performed to my goal expectations at several events in 2022, it wasn't until today, 18 months since first engaging and after a month of listening to Matt and Christine relative to moving more macros to protein, and saw myself hit a new top power number, am I now ready to fully, confidently, and strongly endorse Matt Tanner as a Coach, and Christine Tanner for her professional nutritional leadership. I've probably spent the last decade plus not consuming enough protein, and telling myself that my weight loss was singularly positive for my performance. While my healthy racing weight is somewhere between 147-153 depending on the day, I was stripping muscle to get there. I was never truly recovering and fueling in a way to achieve protein synthesis. I'm still early days, but to achieve a new max power, simply coming out a turn, on a group ride indicates that I have more room to increase. And this was NEVER on my radar as a possibility. I cannot express enough about how impressed I am with working with Christine over the last 6+ months. When I first started with Christine, I thought "here we go again". But, with her guidance, she has helped me transform my body in so many different positive ways and continues to do so. I am so grateful to have found Chris in Dec2023. I have been trying to heal my gut for over 20 years. I truly believe she is an answered prayer!
